Drink Recipe Knock-Off {Bread & Company}

The first time I ever visited Nashville, I recall having lunch at Bread and Company. After I graduated from UK several years later, I took a job, and moved to the Music City. I definitely enjoyed many lovely lunches there eating lots of yummy bread, chicken salad, and always (always) a glass of fruit tea.
Their fruit tea is sweet tea with a punch of sour and spice. It is definitely different, but so very delicious!!
& so

I decided to make my own concoction and came up with this tasty recipe:
{from the Bread & Co online menu}
Fruit Tea Recipe
2 Family Sized Iced Tea bags (or 4-6 regular sized tea bags)
1 Peppermint tea bag
1 can frozen Welch's Pineapple, Apple, Orange Juice
2 quart pitcher

1.Bring a medium sized pot of water to a boil (about 6 cups). Place the Iced Tea bags along with the  peppermint in the pot. Take off the burner for the tea bags to seep (*can be made in an Ice Tea Maker or you can use an electric water heater).

2. and then pour into a pitcher and fill with water until about 1.5 quarters full (keep the bags in to continue steeping). Once the water has become lukewarm, take the tea bags out.

3. Add in the can of frozen juice and mix together.

4. Fill a glass with ice and the tea- Enjoy!!! It's the perfect tea for summer & fall!!

Recipe Knock-Off {Bread & Co}

Fact: I love Bread and Company's Honey Pecan Chicken Salad.

I like most chicken salad, but I haven't been able to find a tastier chicken salad than theirs. So, I decided I would try to recreate the recipe. Mine includes the same ingredients as their version and I think it's just as good!!
[From their online menu: it's the last item on this list]
Honey Pecan Chicken Salad
4 1/2 cups shredded Rotisserie Chicken (use ground chicken if you want it finer)
1/4 cup chopped Red Onion
1/4 cup chopped Celery
1 Tbsp chopped Parsley
1/2 cup chopped Pecans
1/2 cup quartered grapes (red or green)
1 1/4 cups Mayonaise
1/3 cup Honey
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

1. Mix together the mayo, honey, salt, pepper, and parsley. *Spray your 1/3 cup before pouring in the honey (that way it will come right out).

2. Chop and add the pecans, red onion, celery, and grapes (chop the pieces as small or as large as you want).

 3. Finally, cut your rotisserie chicken apart and shred it into a bowl. Stir the chicken into the dressing mixture. Refrigerate for 2 hours and then serve.

When I order this at the restaurant, I choose to get it as a sandwich on Cranberry Pecan bread along with green apple slices & avocado slices. Gives it a bit of crunch :) Mmmm- I want some now!

Bread and Company is unique to Nashville.
If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop by for breakfast or lunch.
Or take a quart of the chicken salad home with you :)

Dishtowel Knock-Off {Anthropologie}

I saw this ----->

on the Anthro website and loved it, but not it's price tag ($24)!!
So, I decided to make it myself!

What I used:
White flour sackcloth dishtowel (Dollar Tree = $1),
Embroidery Thread (Michaels 36 color pack= $5.99) + 40% off coupon
Embroidery Hoop for centering the design (Michaels= $1.89)
Fabric scraps for the leaves, bird, & clothes
Scissors
Needle

I just free-handed the design.....& since I only used 9 colors of thread (.10 each), the cost for this project was only $3.80!!

sorry this one is sideways....

*This dishtowel is being sold for Adding Anna Carson's adoption :)

Ornament Knock-off {Pottery Barn}

We already know that i HEART Mod Podge!!!!
Mod Podge (short for Modern Decoupage in case you were wondering) comes in many different types: Matte, Gloss, Satin, Hard Coat, Paper, Fabric, Outdoor, Shimmer, Sparkle, Glitter, Puzzle, and my new favorite.....Dimensional Magic.
There is even a Mod Podge Rocks blog dedicated to it! :)

This tutorial can be used for either of these Pottery Barn knock-off ornaments!

The music ornament ($8 each)  and bird ornaments ($29 for a set of 4)
I've made these little beauties as Christmas gifts for easy mailing to some family members.
Alright, let's get started...

Supplies:
Scissors
Ribbon
Mod Podge (I used Gloss)
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Sheet Music AND Pictures of Birds ( from the Graphics Fairy)
4in. Wood Disc Rounds (pack of 6 at Hobby Lobby)
Hot Glue gun
Hot Glue sticks

1. Trace out circles from your selected Sheet Music for both sides of the ornaments (12 total)
Also, cut out the birds and little extras you want and Pre-Arrange them as how you want them to look!!
2. Mod Podge the wood and place the music paper on the top of the disc
3. Place the cut out birds and extras onto the still wet discs and Mod Podge on top of them to seal them there. Let dry (usually 10 minutes). Trim the edges with the scissors around the circle!
4. On the back of the disc place the piece of cut ribbon (6in) onto the back with ribbon sides flat. Mod Podge on top of the ribbon and disc.

5. Place the other cut out paper right on top of the ribbon and smooth out. Mod Podge on top and let dry for 10 minutes.

6. Take some decorative ribbon (using something glittery works best) and hot glue the ribbon around the outer edges of the ornament.

7. Take your Mod Podge Dimensional and completely cover the top (do NOT squeeze or shake the bottle, it's pretty thin and will come out on its own). Make sure to fill in any air bubbles. It's pretty visible when wet so the spots you missed should be easy to see. Let dry for about 3 hours.

The top ones have the Dimensional the bottom left does not
Once the dimensional is dry it will be smooth and shiny. You can do the back if you so desire. Sharpie marker is nice to put the year on the back and won't smear.

Enjoy!
